|  | The KCTA opened at the currentSmithville Lake, MO., location after the closure of the old Elliott`s ShootingPark in Raytown in 1986. The roots of the association go back to 1887,when the Elliott family opened their first shooting park in the KansasCity area. On Nov. 27, 1921, Russ Elliott and a handful of local shootersofficially organized the KCTA as a shooting association, supported by aboard of directors and separate from the ownership and management of theshooting facility.
